Your Love Life and Reincarnation: Why The Past Is Affecting Your Present and How To Fix It
Published in Paperback by METApublishing (07 January, 2002)
Authors: Stephen Petullo and Scott A. Petullo
Average review score:

Love Cycles and much, much, more!
As an author of a practical guide to dating and relationships, I was naturally skeptical about a reincarnation-karma type approach to love success. This is not the kind of thing that a group of "Sex and the City" fans are going to identify with, is it?

But according to author, Stephen Petullo (a longtime, past life-regression therapist), the past affects the present (and future) and he backs this up with many case histories of how past life regression analysis can successfully improve a person's love life, whether they believe it or not.

Fortunately for me, my personal background as an NLP (neuro-linguistic programming....a secret skill mastered by motivational guru, Tony Robbins) trainer has already introduced me to this type of valuable mental technology.

For example, this book includes many scripts the reader can use on their own to go back in time and explore past lives for fun or to find out why they're still single, why they attract the wrong people, why their partners cheated on them, or for any other relationship issue.

One of the most interesting parts of the book was the "Love Cycles" section. Here Petullo shows how to use simple numerology calculations, based on your date of birth, to determine what kind of events or situations to expect in your relationship or on what path to a successful one. Numerology has been used and valued for centuries and can be used as a method of self-discovery and for foreseeing future trends/probabilities.

If you're ready to take another look at taking control of your love life, here's a book that I highly recommend. This thorough metaphysical approach to love may be just the perceptional shift that you need in order to move closer to the love relationship you truly desire.

Solid relationship advice with a twist
This book has a unique concept, not just reincarnation, not just relationships, but combining the two for further understanding.

What was particularly interesting was asking the reader and/or patients to suspend believe, just for a moment to go with the flow. If you think about it, how many of us know why or how are computer works, but none of us question that it does. This is not a unique concept if you think about. Given that, the author gives some really solid interesting information and advice when it comes to relationships. Some of it is pure common sense, some shows a unique insight into the psyche.

This book is divided into several sections.
SECTION I:
What you need to know about Reincarnation, Karma and Regression therapy. This section gives you the basics of these concepts. If you are a disbeliever in these concepts, this section may not interest you so much, but it is worth reading. It would give you a the background of the of the terminology referenced later on. If you are less skeptical, there is some solid refresher information here.

SECTION II
Exploring love lives through regression therapy. I felt, even if a person had difficulty with the concept of reincarnation, there was some solid concepts here. The references to the various relationship problems were dead-on and the specific examples of people's situations offered an insight to some concerns many people have. The examples were particularly useful because by looking at the dynamics of another's relationship versus descriptions of problems really helped to characterize the issues discussed.
This section dealt with why some people are still single, Love or lust at first sight, reoccuring negative relationships, lack of commitment, abandonment issues and starting with your own regard for yourself before you look to others for love.

SECTION III
Sexuality and past lives. Given today's hot topics and issues on the various forms of sexuality, I felt this went a long way to help begin an understanding of why people may act the way they do. Even if this is not a topic you may personally be interested in, it may help you to understand others around you. It is rare today that you don't at least know someone that has struggled with these issues. Case histories in this section also personalize these issues for the reader.

SECTION IV
Dealing with other relationship issues. This section deals with commitment issue from leaving, the timing of leaving, peaceful breakups and commitments. Let's face it all relationships either end or continue. It is all covered here. Additionally, there are several sections that deal with non-monogamous relationships and the issues associated. This is about the only book I have ever read that covered this issue. I'll be honest if this is a consideration for you and your significant other, there are some reasonable guidelines here. Case histories also abound in this section as well. From the peaceful breakup to the uncommon relationship. What I particularly liked about this section were the steps in the commitment process. There were 6 sections: Children, Money, Sex, Monogamy, Relatives and Other. This should be required reading for all those considering marriage. Couples actually sitting down and talking over these issues prior to marriage could put many divorce attorneys out of business. Also it emphasized that people grow and change in their relationships. Bingo. Many people don't ever consider that. It can't be emphasized enough and this is the first book I've read that considered this and suggested couples prepare for this.

SECTION V
Discover, forgive and release. Even within working relationships, sometimes there are blocks to intimacy and less than full communication between partners. This section helps you work to dissolve these issues through meditation and regression.
There are a number of meditation exercises and scripts for you to work with. Also there is a script for self regression. I haven't tried these yet but I plan to. This section is chock full of great ideas.

SECTION V1
Other resources to improve your love life. This section covers Numerology, its relationship to reincarnation, and gives a beginning method to calculate your own numbers. Some emphasis was also provided on Astrology too. Along with this was a comprehesive discussion of dating services and what to expect. I would say the author has very high standards for dating services and you would be wise to follow them, if you spend your hard earned money there. This is a great idea, because most of us have no clue where to start or what to expect. He also provides some dating hints and ideas. As much as this might seem basic, many of us, have no clue. This section is chock full of ideas from the spritual to the practical and they all flow together in a very comprehensive summary. I found this section to be very interesting.

What was very interesting in the end, the author addresses the skeptics as well. Let's face it. Some of this may be a stretch for some, and for others may make perfect sense. As was commented in Ian Stevensons' book Old Souls. In the eastern world Reincarnation is consider as a fact for many religions and no proof is necessary. In the western world Reincarnation is not considered as possible, and no proof is enough. Hence very little research is funded or has been done to bring this to light, as one considers it unecessary and the other a waste of time. Even if you are not ready to take a leap of faith and consider this your first and only life, this book has solid relationship information, I have not seen duplicated elsewhere.

A quite powerful and transcendental guide
Stephen Petullo's Your Love Life & Reincarnation: Why The Past Is Affecting Your Present And How To Fix It is a holistic, metaphysical self-help guide to improving one's love life through understanding karma, past lives, and reincarnation. Individual chapters address matters ranging from the benefits of regression therapy, to how past lives influence sexual orientation, to the overwhelming importance of forgiveness. A quite powerful and transcendental guide, Your Love Life & Reincarnation is strongly recommend addition to metaphysical studies and human relationship reading lists and reference collections.

Big Honkin' Zits
Published in Paperback by Andrews McMeel Publishing (September, 2001)
Author: Jerry Scott
Average review score:

You will love ZITS
If you have or have had teenagers, you need to red Zits. The adventures of all the characters will keep you laughing. They even manage to capture the angst of both parents and teens.

You'll pop with (laughter with) Zits!
In Big Honkin Zits (hey, it's named after ME when I was 16..or 26) you can clearly see WHY this strip by Jerry Scott and Jim Borgman is one of the fastest growing and most popular strips EVER.

The best way to explain it is: it's on the same quality level as Bill Watterson's Calvin & Hobbes at it's funniest, most irony-laced and visually comedic BEST. Once again we have Jeremy...the self-absorbed 15-year-old who is constantly (in his view) humiliated by his parents' mere existance (except when he lowers the posture and briefly show he really cares). The strip shows things from the adult point of view but ALSO does a good job of pointing out how a teen might view the parents (his parents ARE dorky).

There are several reasons why this strip is such great COMEDY, and holds up so well in a treasury form such as this. The artists use a story-line of sorts (akin to the story-line Watterson would use where a given daily strip would stand alone but is part of a group with a theme). The shorter strips work as well as the longer ones. As in Calvin & Hobbes we often see things from the teen or parental view in the form of a fantasy (his father dressed like a clown; Jeremy with huge ears after his girlfriend mentions his ears are big). It's a strip that shows character evolution: his girlfriend finally gets her braces off; he goes to his first real rock concert; sneaks into his first teen porn film etc.

But above all it's the world-class visual comedy, character facial expressions and actual irony-heavy comedy that makes this strip among the best EVER. Since there are tons of strips I'll share one that is my favorite. Jeremy's mother reads an article that says "the average teenage boy thinks about sex once every eight minutes." They look at each other and each says "Wow." She thinks: "That much?" He thinks: "That's all?"

You're going to want to read Big Honkin' Zits again and again and each time you're going to laugh as much as the first time. SUPERB selection of a SUPERB strip that happily continues to quickly grow in circulation, artistically and comedically.

A second helping of a great comic strip
Jeremy returns in his second treasury, combining strips from the books "Don't Roll Your Eyes at Me, Young Man!" and "Are We an Us?" Not much has changed since the first treasury. He still wishes his parents would get off his back, he still doesn't understand women, and he still dreams of making it big in music. But whether he's trying to decide what to do about the upcoming Gingivitis concert, win back Sara from a sophomore, support a friend's mom who has cancer, or sneak over to his girlfriend's babysitting job, he's sure to find the humor in any situation.

Unfortunately, I don't get the strip in my local paper, so I have to wait for these books to enjoy it. But I can certainly see why it has become such a popular strip. Everyone can appreciate the humor in the storylines, which poke fun at everyone equally. The visual gages are some of the best in the papers today and make for some of the best strips in the book as well. And it's easy to like these characters because they really do have good hearts just beneath the surface. My only complaint with this book is that the strips don't appear to be in order. It makes for a little confusion when a character is first introduced after we've already met him or her, but over all, it really is minor.

This is a wonderful collection that should win new fans and satisfy the old. Buy it today and enjoy the laughs.

Complete Guide to National Park Lodges, 2nd Edition
Published in Digital by Globe Pequot Press ()
Authors: David L Scott and Kay Scott
Average review score:

Very Helpful
This summer we enjoyed our first stays in some of the national park lodges. Not knowing much about the lodges prior to the trip, we located this guide in a bookstore in a nearby town. It provided enough information that we were able to make good choices on which lodges to choose in each park we visited. In particular, we were having difficulty picking lodges in both Yellowstone and Glacier. Both parks have several lodges and we didn't know much about any lodge other than Old Faithful Inn until reading the information in this book. We found the information accurate and helpful.

This is an Excellent Book!
If you like to stay in National Parks, this is the book for you. It provides all the detail needed to weigh all your options for lodging in our National Parks (price, location, views, room options, restaurants). In some cases it even gives recommendations for certain rooms because of the view or the size of the room.

Even if you never thought about staying at a National Park Lodge get this book. There are some wonderful places to stay and staying in the park, even if it costs a little more, adds so much to the total park experience.

I will not be without this book when I travel. I just wish the authors would write a similar book for State Parks.

Accurate and Useful
As a frequent visitor to the national parks, I found the information in this book to be accurate and useful. We had stayed in several of the lodges mentioned in the book but found out about some places we never knew existed. The lodge in North Cascades is one of our favorites. I recommend this book to both experienced and novice travelers.

The DWEEBZ (Book One) : JaneLee and some DWEEBZ
Published in Hardcover by Valley Press (March, 2000)
Authors: N. L. Lovejoy and Scott Sims
Average review score:

At Last!
As a teacher, aunt, and Godmother, I've been waiting a long time for something refreshing and fun to share with my "children". Finally, Nancy Lovejoy has provided us all with a guaranteed hit among our little ones! Her book is visually appetizing, fun and entertaining, and it offers a variety of learning tools at the same time. For teachers: All of my lesson plans have been quite successful!

Marvelous for kids and kids at heart!
The DWEEBZ are adorable for kids of any age! I have a copy of "JaneLee and some DWEEBZ" for myself and have found it to be a perfect gift for nephews and cousins as well. With stories that hold the attention of young minds and illustrations that seem to have something new each time, those DWEEBZ are bound to be a hit everywhere!

My kids' favorite book!
My two kids were terrified of the dark until we read DWEEBZ! In fact so was I and I am 39. This book is absolutely wonderful! The illustrations make the book. If it weren't for the fine illustrations I may have passed it off as just another children's book. The illustration kept me reading and my kids want to get posters as soon as they are available. I (and my kids)recommend this book for all ages.

Following the Wrong God Home: Footloose in an American Dream (Literature of the American West, V. 12)
Published in Hardcover by Univ of Oklahoma Pr (Trd) (March, 2003)
Authors: Clive Scott Chisolm and Clive Scott Chisholm
Average review score:

One Man's Saga
I was enthralled by Clive Scott Chisholm's brilliant meld of personal experience, social criticism, and history. On his 1100 mile trek from Omaha to Salt Lake City, he encounters a rich variety of experiences involving the weather, the landscape, historical markers, towns, and human personalities which he describes in vivid detail. Independence Rock in Wyoming, for instance, evokes a discussion of the natural forces which created it and its role as "a geological semaphore of good-bye" for travelers venturing into the unknown West.
Threaded through this account are Chisholm's thoughts about his life, his friends, western history, and particularly about "the American Dream" and the Mormons. He is often brutally frank in his judgments, especially of the Mormon leader, Brigham Young, for whom he can say nothing good. All-in-all, this is a brilliantly written, deeply personal account of one man's adventure in space and time.

Following the wrong god home
Clive Scott Chisholm recounts his walking retracement of the Morman trail across Nebraska and Wyoming to Brigham Young's"Zion",Utah. This book is about people, places, perceptions, and the nebulous envisagement of the American Dream.
To Chisholm, born into a Morman Family and faith, the walk it vividly personal. He weaves parenthetical"Acccording to Hoyle" chronicles of Morman history in each chapter.
The author crosses the bounds of genre with timely placed sidebars. He touches geography, natural history, hydraulics, soil management, native indian movements, railway and highway beginnings, politics and a host of others.
He describes eating, sleeping and entertainment establishments past and present;"watering-holes",museums and libraries with a generous portion of humor. There are no sacred cows,be it presidents or prophets.
This book just gets better as it goes.Clive Scott Chisholm doesn't disappoint his readers by slipping off the rails in the final chapter. He runs strong to the end.
The last entry adds a homey"Where are they now"(fifteen years later) about many of the people and personalities we meet in the book.
End

a study in landscape
scott MacDonald wrote a book called "The Garden in the Machine" and this book reminds me of "Following the Wrong god home" because they both discuss the meaning of landscape. But if you read both books together you can see how Chisolm's book on the mormons is much more personal mostly because he actually is doing the traveling himself and having the experiences he is talking about. I think that a lot of people who don't know anything about Mormon history could love this book because he is using the mormon history as a way of writing about the western dream. The writing of this book is superb and it is one of those rare books that I never wanted to finish.

Haunted Texas Vacations: The Complete Ghostly Guide
Published in Paperback by Westcliffe Pub (26 September, 2000)
Authors: Lisa Farwell, John Scott, and Dennis William Hauck
Average review score:

a must -have book for texas ghost hunters
this is the first book i ever purchased about ghost hunting exclusively in texas. i was impressed with the detail that the author included in her book. every bit of information that you need in order to conduct ghost hunting trips in Texas is included here. i have purchased a couple of books after this one that dealt with texas ghosts but they fall short of Haunted Texas Vacations.

Fantastic Book!
This is a fun-to-read, informative book full of interesting ghost stories. It can be used for informative, historical reading or for pure enjoyment.

After reading "Haunted Texas Vacations," my husband and I set out on our own ghost hunts in San Antonio, Spring and Jefferson and, I'm happy to report, we were privileged to experience first-hand a couple of unexplained phenomena mentioned in Ms. Farwell's writings because we knew exactly where to look.

Please give us more, Ms. Farwell!

A Great Book!!
This was my first really good book on haunted places. Anyone who is interested in local (Texas) ghost stories just has to read this one. I am planning my vacation around some of these towns and I am very excited.

This book is so well written that it held my interest for hours and gave me quite a chill more than a couple of times. The way the author put Texas in sections made it even easier to find a particular area I was looking for. Although I was looking for San Antonio, I found there are all kinds of interesting places in between and beyond. I intend to eventually visit them all.

I would recommend this book to anyone interested in our haunted history or just a great ghost story.

A Book Lover's Diary
Published in Hardcover by Firefly Books (December, 1995)
Authors: Shelag Wallace, Shelagh Wallace, and Scott McKowen
Average review score:

Don't read this book by its cover
This is an excellent item for a booklover to have, as detailed by other reviewers. Be careful, though-- The book is not the lucious item, with embossed title, ribbon closing, and included bookmark, that is suggested by the photo. The "photo" is actually the artwork on the cover of the real book, which is bound blank-book style.

Best looking, and also very useful
For my purposes (described in an earlier review) this is probably the most satisfactory book journal. The other book diary BookNotes was the best as a gift to a young child, in my opinion, even though it was not quite what I wanted.

I wanted a place to record all the books I read by subject, by title and by author. This has that. I wanted a journal where I could jot brief notes about books. This has that as well.
This is not however the place to go if you want to write long detailed notes about each book (for that, I would recommend a separate blank journal). Rather, use this journal as a way to record what you read and when you read. If you have highly specialized reading tastes, some of the sections might seem extraneous, but the beauty of this journal (apart from its looks) is that it allows you to customize as you please.

I think I am keeping this one for myself. One caveat - I wish that this book had a bookmark (marker) included. But I can easily stick one in myself.

A must have for all book lovers!!!
This book can be loved by anybody, any age (I'm 13) I've seen other book journals and diaries, but this one is by far the best. It has a place for you to record everything from books you want to read, books recieved as gifts, and books borrowed, to quotes on the pages about books, and a place to record your favorite passages from books. whether for yourself or a friend, this diary is sure to be loved by all.

Earthly Fathers
Published in Hardcover by Zondervan (01 March, 2001)
Author: Scott Sawyer
Average review score:

Scott Sawyer will become a familiar name in literary circles
This is the true story of one young man's search for identity as he grew up in a small Texas town in the shadow of an older brother, both having lost their real father as very young children. Their stepfather was the only father figure Scott knew, yet he was acutely aware that they were not the same flesh and blood. It is also the story of his family coping with the death of Scott's older brother from cancer when he was only sixteen. His ongoing relationship with two fathers-the one he never knew and the only one he did know-ultimately helped him find his identity in the heavenly Father as well.

A journey through a lifetime of experience and memories
This is a warm, and honest portrayal of a man living through time by capturing and re-evaluating his past. When the famous psychologist Alfred Adler was exploring how our identity is formed he made the following interesting and counter-intuitive claim: Our present effects our past to a greater degree than our past effects our present. This book, a journey through a lifetime of memories experienced again and bonds established for the first time, demonstrates that Alder's claim is often true. The perspective we have today influences how we view the events and feelings of the past. The author, Scott Sawyer, uses his present perspective to unearth a beautiful retrospective of his family and his fathers.

This book contains a wonderful journey, and those reading it will be blessed by the opportunity to experience it with him. I was moved and touched, and the depictions and images involved me as a member of this family for a fleeting few moments. I cried, I laughed, and I was humbled by the love that radiates off the pages.

The style of the book is more poetic than narrative. I would normally have given 4 stars on this review, because I am usually more drawn to a narrative style, in this case however, the events, images and emotions of this family and his life captured me so completely that I quickly adapted to the many transitions and sound bites of thought.

Please read this book. I found that once I settled into the story, my efforts were rewarded, and the images and emotions came to life. I had the pleasure of attending a reading of the book by the author at a local bookstore and can tell you first-hand that the emotion that went into this project is real. The scene was similar to the experience of reading the book. We all laughed out loud at the comic depictions of his childhood, and cried at the emotion of meeting and losing his father again. Highly recommended to everyone.

Ward Clever, No Competition for These Earthly Fathers
We all have a story--usually a bittersweet blend of angst and elation. When loss comes, whether through death or separation from someone we love, our hearts must wade through the complexity of emotion remaining.

There are many ways we can tell our stories...flanked with humor and shrowded by denial...cloaked with bitterness and oppressed by hatred...or creatively open and inspired by redemption.

This is the brilliant balance Scott Sawyer achieved in his own story. In choosing to share this story, he could have opted for denial or for bitterness. Instead, he chose a delicate blend of humor, creativity and redemption. He allows us a unique glimpse into his contemplation, his desire and his pursuit to comprehend what bearing loss has had on his life.

The focus encompasses much more than loss, however, and delightfully depicts sibling rivalry, a boy's adoration for his mother and his family, wonder at not one but two fathers, the pursuit of passion and dreams, as well as life-altering spiritual discoveries. And revelations about a Heavenly Father.

I was rapt with the flowing rhythmn of humor, contemplation, angst, passion, peace and JOY (you'll see the significance of this adjective when you read the book).

Scott was brave to bear his heart, was artful in how he did so, and gracious not to air unnecessary dirty laundry.

This is a story that will make you laugh out loud and bring tears to your eyes. And it will cause you to contemplate your own soul...journeys left midway...pain left untended...discovery still to be made.

Growth Spurt-Zits Sketchbook #2
Published in Paperback by Andrews McMeel Publishing (01 April, 1999)
Author: Scott
Average review score:

"Zits" is ingenious, in it's own way.
"Growth Spurt: Zits Sketchbook 2" is cute, but not as funny as the "Zits: Sketchbook 1." Still, this book is true to life and has a humorous outlook at teenagers. Great for a fan collecting this series. I recommend.

A great strip, a great book!
Two reasons why I appreciate this strip so much: a) I vaguely remember being JeremyÂ's age and b) I have a son. Now heÂ's in the 'Baby Blues' age - one reason why I donÂ't find that strip so funny - but I can sympathise with all the stripÂ's characters. So I get amused, inspired and also touched. The stories are very human, they donÂ't degrade any of the generations, they are well drawn. Book 2 is in every way as good as book 1. I hope it continues that way.

ZITS just keeps getting better
WOW.. I first turned to the first page and never laff so hard in a real-long time.. the two writers deserve everything for making this book and sketchbook one very worth buying! i hope this someday becomes a real life movie haha! ssj3
